Sticking With My Gut in DFS Costs Some Moooolah on Memorial Day

One of my passions has become daily fantasy sports (DFS). I keep going back and forth as to where my DFS blogging should go. Well, this site is all about me and my adventures so it’s going here. For those of you that wanna play — hit me up on Twitter @RyanKnuppel and we can chat DFS! FanDuel is the spot — if you sign up using promo code “DRAFTBANK” you can get the best bonus available. I’m always available to “consult” newcomers as well but be sure to use that promo code.

Trust your gut in DFSSo today is going to be a bit of a rant. I’m always one that says, “at the end of the day, stick with your gut” when forming a FanDuel lineup. Well, yesterday was a case that my “gut” cost me a 4 figure payday.

My gut was saying all along that Vogt was going to have a big day. But, 5 minutes until lineup lock the Oakland lineup was still not released. My “process” typically is to NOT take the risk and swap out this player. So I went ahead and made the swap, put IN McCann and Gardner from the Yanks and take out Vogt and Soler. Easy enough.

Well, 30 seconds til lineup lock I just wasn’t at peace with the decision, I decided to stick with my “gut” on Vogt and swapped Vogt/Soler back in. BIG TIME OOOOOOOPS!

Not 20 minutes into the Yankees game both Gardner and McCann hit bombs and had double digit points. At the end of the day that one single move cost me 22 FanDuel points. It was the different between missing the cash line and cashing $1000 in the tourney I had entered.

Let’s just say I was on DFS tilt yesterday for a bit. But, those things happen. Jump back on the horse and get after it again today — right?!?!

If You Ain’t First — You Are Last!

That is my motto for the day. If you ain’t first — you are last! Nothing is truer sometimes in the DFS world. Last night, I took home 2nd place in the FanDuel Miami Qualifier for their live event. Yep. 2nd place for a $700 win. Profit of $675. But I’m PISSSSSSSED! dfs-if-you-aint-first-you-are-lastFirst place and I go to Miami with all you awesome DFS people to compete for $100K in another Live Final. 4 DFS points. Thank God I wasn’t around to sweat it because it sounds like I lost the lead in the final quarter of the last game. Congrats to EScot for taking home that qualifier entry. He’s on fire!

Hope you followed my plays from yesterday because my lineup had nearly ALL players from the lists!

Moving on to Tuesday! The beauty of DFS is that there is always another day. Shake it off and go after it again today.

Today’s DFS Action

I will have a few lineups in the Miami Qualifier again tonight on FanDuel. And of course some lineups in the Slam and Shot on FanDuel. But it’s Tuesday and you know what that means. HOCKEY NIGHT ON FANDUEL!  I’ll be playing a large amount of NHL tonight as well. Boooom! Hit me up on Twitter @RyanKnuppel if you wanna chat hockey lineups and/or strategy.

Pay Up Plays

It’s a weird day for me in NBA DFS. I don’t really have any “Pay Up” players at all on my short list today. I’m staying away from LeBron, Wall an Cousins. The Gasols, etc… It’s a mediocre player kind of night I hope!

  1. Paul Millsap — he’s probably the closest thing to a pay up play today.

Middle of the Road

  1. Mo Williams — My top PG play of the day. Lakers matchup is prime for Mo to go nuts.
  2. Terrance Jones — he’s been hot for awhile and with Harden out, Jones can do even more.
  3. Rudy Gobert — My top center play today despite going up against Memphis.

Punt Specials

  1. Langston Galloway — Not sure he’s a true punt, but like his value today.
  2. Tony Snell — The Bulls are tough to figure out but I’m counting on 6-7x from Snell today.
  3. Jae Crowder — Been hot for the Celtics. Rolling with him again tonight in a high pace/tempo game.

Good luck to everyone on this Tuesday! Be sure to follow me over at Twitter @RyanKnuppel as I always love meeting and chatting with DFS fanatics like myself.  Knup
