Relaxing New Year

I want to wish everyone a very happy new year from the Knuppel’s. 2009 should be both a great and challenging year. Hope you and your families had a wonderful New Year’s eve. I know we did.

Our’s was pretty uneventful. Drew and Alyssa went out and spent the night at Grandma and Grandpa Peterson’s house. So it was us and Bryce. We had plans to go to a dinner with B, but he wasn’t having it. Of course he chose to take his late nap right over dinner time. Oh well. Sarah and I ordered in Pizza Hut pasta and just chilled. Then around 9:30 some friends came by to bring in the new year. We played WII and some games. Greg got a kick out of watching the “Pussycat Dolls” and Sarah had some nice comments about Dick Clark. “Poor Dick”. Lol. It was a great night and Bryce didn’t interrupt once. WOW!

Just wanted to take a minute and wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. Have fun and relax with family today. Enjoy some great food. Reflect on everything we have to be thankful for!

my kids (and kid to come)
my family (parents, brothers, aunts, uncles, etc.)
God
my church
my friends
my health
the Internet. Blogging and running websites has become such a release for me.
my job (CAT)

I’m sure there is much, much more… But the lesson is – just be thankful

A quick softball league update

This was last week but I forgot to touch on it. The Peoria Park District league that I played on is now over. Our team, the DHL team, won our division with only one loss. We played a team from another league and got beat the first game in the playoffs. They were just a better team than us.

Funny story, with 1 out in the last inning I come to bat. I’m using Carley’s metal, old, Easton bat that we had used all year. I smoke a ball to center field and the bat breaks right in half with the upper half flying toward the shortstop. Luckily he got out of the way or it woulda caused serious damage. I had never seen a metal bat do such a thing. The bat was hollow in the center and luckily no cork or bouncy balls came flying out. That woulda been controversial to say the least. I claim that the ball woulda been a homerun if the bat would not have broken. That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.

Apple Blossom Farm fun

Our community group had an outing planned for Saturday to go to the Apple Blossom Farm in Peoria. What is that you might say? It’s just a small little farm setting with a fun kids playground, monster truck rides, lots of apple food, hayrack rides, pumpkin picking, a corn maze and much more. We met up with the Norris family and Traci and Seth for the evening. It was a little warm but we had a blast. The kids played on the playground for quite sometime – jumpy in the big jumpy thing/slide and going down the huge slide. As you can see from the pics some of us adults had a blast on the big slide as well. Due to costs we didn’t do the monster truck rides or many other activities. We just went on to Steak and Shake afterwards and enjoyed some food. Yum! The pictures below are just a few snapshots sent to us by Aaron.

Friday night out at Cheddar’s

Been a busy weekend so I’ll try to spend tonight catching everyone up on our weekend. On Friday Sarah and I went out with our church community group to Cheddar’s in Peoria. That place used to be our favorite place to eat back when we were dating. Funny, because we never go there now. I guess the restaurant selection has grown over the years. But the food was great like it always was and we had an awesome time socializing with friends.

After dinner we hung out at Starbuck’s for a while just to chat some more. Fun night!

Cole Carley was born on September 5th, 2007 around 6:30 PM. We missed Justin at our fantasy draft but I guess he had a good excuse Everything is good with baby and mommy. Here are some pictures, congrats!

Marigold Festival and Birthday

Saturday was an action packed day. We took off early in the morning to watch the Marigold Festival parade here in Pekin. It was good as the feature guest this year was the “Refrigerator” Perry from the old-time Chicago Bears. He is a monster! There were lots of cool floats and our kids loaded up on candy once again. After the parade we spent a little time at the carnival portion but that’s not really for us so we took off.

We spent the evening at the Norris household for Justice and Jordan’s 4th birthday party. Tons of kids, families, food and fun. I’ll update with some pictures when I get them.

Mackinaw Valley Vineyard

Sarah and I went out with a group of friends to the Mackinaw Valley Vineyard last night. It was a great time. We met out there around 6:30 PM and stayed til close to 10:00 PM. Despite the weather looking like rain, it never did. We really just socialized and hung out, ate some snacks and had some drinks. All had a fun time. The band playing was “Axis”. They did a good job but never made us get out of our seats and dance like the last winery visit we made. Here are some photos mostly courtesy of Tarina!

Fantasy Football Time

So I just got back from spending 5 full hours at Buffalo Wild Wings in East Peoria. We had our “FSDL” fantasy football draft from 6-9 and then hung out and watched a little baseball. I’m pretty pumped about my team this year which includes Reggie Bush, Addai, Larry Johnson and Steve Smith!!! Games start tomorrow and I am pretty excited about that as well. It is family night around here but the game will definitely be on the big screen in the basement. Colts vs. Saints baby!

If I drink one more diet pepsi I think I’m going to throw up. I should have saved a little room for Sunday since I’ll be camped out at BWW again for most of the day. ARE YOU READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL!!!!

So this past Sunday, friends of ours from Riverside came over and shot pictures of Alyssa while she was playing and ‘posing’. They turned out so beautiful! Of course I”m not biased or anything! So, please check the pictures out at www.attitudesandimagesphotography.com

The Norris’s are very talentd! They worked well with Alyssa and the digital editing and shots were awesome! VERY hightly recommended if you are looking for more of a casual picture setting. Our kids are horrible at sitting still for formal pictures!
