August 2015 Personal Goals for Knup

Well, better late than never right? I’m only a few weeks late getting my July recap and August goals outlined.

July started out great but then… I GOT LAZY! My running started suffering and I started eating and drinking worse. I’ll blame the weekend baseball trips we made with my oldest son. Those hurt! They hurt bad 🙂

July “Goal” Recap

    • FAIL: Didn’t do this the last 2 weeks of July.

TRAVEL

  • Enjoy baseball tournament trips with Drew and family!
    • PASS: Finally one I passed for the month. Enjoyed these a little “too” much which added to my missing of the health goals.
  • Relax in the Ozarks but not slack on working out.
    • PASS: Had a great Ozarks trip and worked out nicely during that trip.

LIFE

  • Get back on track with Budget numbers
    • FAIL: Pushing this back to August
  • Blog once per week here at knup.net
    • FAIL: None

So can we just say July was a “FAIL” month? The last 10 days were for sure. But what can I learn from that? Goals are just goals. The good thing about it is that the next month I can reset and do better. There are a few goals that I just don’t think are practical for my lifestyle these days. So I’ll modify the goals to make them more attainable. At the end of the day I need to see a lot more green.

July 2015 Personal Goals for Knup

Hey hey hey! It’s July first and this is the 3rd month in a row of my goals! I’ve found that having this post and laying out my goals each month really helps me throughout the month.

June was an awesome month. It may look like a lot of “failed goals” but it wasn’t that bad. I really underestimated a few things.

  1. Injury can happen — I had a severely painful neck injury early in the month. I could barely move it hurt so bad. Had to take 2-3 full days off from training all together.
  2. Race week means rest — I didn’t account for the rest I’d want to have leading up to the Steamboat race. It made me work even harder later on to catch up and get my 80 miles!
  3. Weekend Trips with friends hurt — May as well just count those weekends out for exercise. I have good intentions on keeping up but that just doesn’t happen.

Steamboat Race

SC-Full-Logo-Black-e1425831481405The Steamboat race went awesome. Sarah ran with me and it was her first race — ever. She loved it and finished without walking. We both did the 4 mile race. Sarah finished with a 42:42 (10:41 mile) and I finished with a 31:03 (7:46 mile).

My unwritten goal was 30:00 minutes so I failed by a minute. Mile 3 absolutely crushed me pace wise.

But after the race Sarah and I had a blast. We hung with friends, enjoyed the music, had a few drinks and food! Great morning to run.

All in all, June was a great month. Let’s take a look at the specifics and recap the monthly goal results.

June “Goal” Recap

HEALTH / FITNESS

  • Run 80+ miles in June
    • PASS: 80.02 to be exact. It took a big last two days but made it happen.
  • Bike 80+ miles in June
    • FAIL: Didn’t bike ride a single mile in June. Hmmm, gotta break out of this and just start.
  • Do 20 burpees every day I run
    • PASS: Definitely did this and I can tell burpees are becoming easier to do.
  • Do 20 pushups every day
    • PASS’ISH: Every day may be a bit of a stretch as I missed the STL trip and a couple days when by neck hurt terribly. But it wasn’t due to laziness so I can count it.
  • Do 20 situps every day
    • PASS’ISH: Every day may be a bit of a stretch as I missed the STL trip and a couple days when by neck hurt terribly. But it wasn’t due to laziness so I can count it.
  • Do 20 dips every day
    • PASS’ISH: Every day may be a bit of a stretch as I missed the STL trip and a couple days when by neck hurt terribly. But it wasn’t due to laziness so I can count it.
  • Drink NO soda
    • FAIL: What is soda? I should have been more specific. Did great with caffeine (minus STL weekend) but had Root Beer and Sierra Mist on occasion.
  • Drink minimal sugar filled drinks
    • FAIL: I can do better here. Had water every day for lunch but still hit some sugary drinks for dinner. Not terrible but can do better.
  • Eat ice cream / sweets just once a week (4 times in the month)

May 2015 Personal Goals

So back in October of 2014 I wrote up a pretty detailed goals post and had a “goal” to continue that monthly. Well, GOAL FAILED. This is only the second goal post in my series but I hope to get this rolling monthly now.

goalsWhy now? Health! Without goals I just let myself go. I don’t eat right. I don’t exercise right. And I overall just don’t feel as well. I love checking goals off of a list so blogging them is one way to track them.

Some ask me, “why do you want these to be public?”  My answer — why not? Public can sometimes keep a person more accountable right? So if you want to know my personal goals well continue reading knup.net — if not, don’t 🙂

Again, these are only personal goals and not business related goals. I’ll shoot to track these over at RyanKnuppel.com in the near future.

2014 “To Date” Goal Completion

Last spring and summer I was really motivated. To date in 2015 I did NOTHING good in January or February. I did start my workouts earlier as I logged 57 running miles in March, 49 in April and so far 38 in May. That is compared to 5.5, 60 and 86.81 last year.

As far as weight goes. I’m over where I was at this point last year. One thing to point to. SODA AND FOOD CONSUMPTION! I have to get back to my disciplined self. More to come on that.

I’ve checked off a couple travel and life goals. I made a DFS final live event! BOOOOOOM! Took Sarah to California on vacation. We sold our house (to simplify and downsize) which was a major life goal.

3 Reasons This Friday Started Out Sucky

Can I vent for a minute? I don’t typically complain or talk about anything “bad” that happens in my life but today I just thought I’d do a quick morning post to get a few things out of my mind 🙂 Let’s just say it hasn’t been the best Friday start I’ve had!

Home Routine Messed Up

My alarm just kept going and going and going this morning. I couldn’t get up! Snoozed a couple times but just didn’t feel like rolling out of bed. Ever have those days? I DON’T ever have those days which is why it sucks when I do.

Funny thing that just shows it’s going to be “one of those days”. I come down the stairs with my socks in a ball still. Think I’ll be Mr. Funny Guy and throw them at Bryce as he’s eating breakfast. Stupid me. I miss him and they roll into the sink which is loaded with nasty dish water. Upstairs for a new pair of socks for me. LOL.

So get back downstairs and my lovely wife has a list of about 10 things for me “to do” that I just don’t feel like dealing with this morning. You know how that goes right? For some reason instead of my patient answer I just don’t want to hear it. So that goes badly and puts me, her and the kids in an instant bad mood. Strike 2 at home before I even leave the door.

Weight Not Good

Back in March when I decided to “eat better” and exercise it wasn’t to lose weight. It was just to simply feel better and live healthier. Well, I’ve been slipping up the last month. Back drinking soda. Eating out for lunch more often. Ice cream at night. You know, the old routines.

Well, this is showing in my weight. I lost 35 pounds from April to September which was an awesome feeling. But in the last month I’ve given BACK 10 pounds. Not good. Made me feel like crap this morning! Need to get a great run in today and hopefully eat better. Ugh. Anyways, more great news on this Friday.

cause-of-flat-tire-21319963Tire Flat — REALLY?

So at this point I’m already pissed off and it’s not even 7:45. Time to leave for work. Get in my Escape and take off. What do you know? Rattles and loud noices. HUH? Pull over and sure enough, my passenger rear tire is flat as paper. I’m not talking just a little “low tire pressure”. COMPLETELY FLATTENED!

How did this happen? I instantly want to blame! The wife took the car here or there… Whatever, I resist from the blame game and decide to just get it fixed. Being 2 miles from the shop I decide to drive on the rims (oops) for that short amount instead of putting on the spare. Hopefully doesn’t end up costing me but may.

Get to Ford and luckily they can get me in today. Now I’m walking to work (ok it’s only like 1 mile) from Ford. But now I’m carless at work on a Friday which makes me angry in itself. LOL.

So there you have it. I roll into work at 8 oclock and already have an hour of BADNESS on my slate for today. Let’s hope the rest of the day goes better! I already feel better venting on this blog. Now time to get some work done 🙂

October 2014 Personal Goals for Knup

One thing I feel is very important in all facets of life, personal life, business life, etc. is setting goals. I set goals every day and now I’d like to get in the habit of posting these goals on my site.

It’s one thing to have goals, it’s another to follow through on them. My goal posts will include a bit about how I did and what I want to do in terms of goals going forward.

These will only be personal goals. For my internet marketing goals you’ll have to visit RyanKnuppel.com at some point!

GOALSSeptember 2014 Goal Completion

Since this is the first goal post on this site, I have no “results” per say. But some goals I had over the past few months involved running and eating healthy. I ran over 300 miles during the summer  months. Whatever my goals were, I sailed past them. I also did the burpee challenge where I did 30 burpees for 30 straight days!  I had a goal to eliminate soda from my diet over the summer and I successfully did that.  Let’s just say my “weight” loved all of these goals!

Now, I’ve been struggling on these goals in September. So October it’s time to get back to it.
