Christmas at the Petersons

Instead of posting a bunch of posts on one day – I’m going to spread out posts over the next 4-5 days recapping our Christmas activities! Come back each day for another exciting story :)

Typically on Christmas day we have to balance my family and Sarah’s family Christmas times. This year – it was different. The Peterson/Friedrich crew decided to have their Christmas on the Sunday before Christmas! So here was the agenda:

  • 8:00 Church at Friedrich church
  • 9:30 – noon: Friedrich Christmas at Petersons
  • noon – 4: Peterson Christmas at Petersons
  • 5:00 – 9:00 Immediate Peterson clan Christmas

What a day?!?! Would our kids be up for it? Would we be up for it?

Well, the day started off fine. We got to church on time (miraculously) and the first 45 minutes of church was a breeze. Then IT happened. Alyssa was sitting quietly with Sarah’s mom and she started getting a little whiny, asking for Mommy. No biggie – she does this all the time. So Sarah took her and held her. But she clearly didn’t seem comfortable. She was moaning and whining which is not typical for her. Just as Sarah was getting up to bring her out – BAM. Lissy, yacked all over her, all over the pew, and maybe even all over the people behind us (sorry!). Oh my. So Sarah scrambled to get her out and hold the puke on her blanket and coat. Some family helped clean the mess thankfully. This was one of those churches that is very quiet in nature – so EVERYONE heard and saw what was going on. How embarrassing. Sarah got the brunt of it though – and later on I kinda laughed about it because it was so gross.

So we brought Lissy and everyone back to Petersons at first to try the day. She seemed to be a bit relieved and we thought maybe it was just something she ate. We celebrated Brook’s birthday real quick before breakfast. Then we started into our big breakfast brunch. All of a sudden, Alyssa puked again.

“Ryan, can you take her home for the day.”

Is what I heard just as I was diving into some yummy egg/sausage casserole and a plate full of fruit! I didn’t have much choice at this point – Alyssa clearly needed to go home as their were other kids around and she was not feeling well at all. So I took a little fruit to go and headed home. All wasn’t lost though – at least it was Sunday and there was plenty of football to watch around the house. Alyssa got sick one more time but slept for most of the day. Then felt better in the morning and hasn’t been bad since!

So how was Christmas at the Petersons? From what I hear – everything was great. Lots of food, some games, lots of talking, tons of gifts. Fun times like always. Drew came home raving about a lightning macqueen car (the green Mater) he had gotten. And when they got home they even had some presents for Lissy and me to open! I have a few pictures below that Sarah took so enjoy.
