I’m glad Easter is over. We had a good but very tiring day. Easter in the City at the Civic Center didn’t go quite as planned. We got our seats and got all settled in – but the kids were not cooperating. Lissy was wearing this huge puffy dress that kept wacking the couple in front of us in the head. They were getting quite annoyed by this. Alyssa was just squirming and wanting to run around. Drew was good for like 15 minutes – then he was the exact same. I bribed him with candy for another 15 minutes but then we all just had to go out to the hallways. Ughhhh. We listened to some praise and worship for 10 more minutes but then just decided it was a lost cause, and we went home. I think we say this every year – but next year – we are not going to this big production. Too much chaos for our impatient kids.
So after our day got started off on the wrong foot we had like an hour of driving out to my grandma’s house. This went better than I thought it would. Drew and Alyssa were fairly quiet and cooperative. Grandma Meekers was awesome as usual. We had a ‘light lunch’ which consisted of ham, sandwiches, barbeque, green beans, corn, veges, cheese, tapioca, salad and every single dessert imaginable. Sounds LIGHT huh? After this I began my ‘bump on a log’ stage. I sat on the couch with the guys and watched a combination of Cardinals, Cubs, Whitesox, Mets and NBA basketball. Talk about heaven
We took off in mid-afternoon for the Peterson Easter. Lissy got a short nap in the van on the way there, but probably only slept 30 minutes. The Peterson household was much more laidback but just as much fun. Chad and April’s family was there for noon lunch and were just leaving – but we got to open Easter presents with Matt, Adam and Ryan first. Was great to see them for a few minutes. After they left it was even more quiet. We all just sat around (like bump’s on a log – as Sarah kept referring to me as) and watched the Masters finally. Tiger just couldn’t quite make the comeback.
Lot’s of great food was eaten here as well. By this time my kids were on a sugar high from all of the Easter Candy. Every time I looked up Alyssa was laying on the floor with her blankie almost asleep. Drew was rocking with the toy guitar and acting like a crazy kid. Typical Drew – especially when he is tired.
Finally around 7:00 PM we headed for home. We worked hard to keep the kids awake in the van – then as soon as we got home we ALL crashed for the night. Long Easter day! Hope everyone else had a great Easter. Enjoy the pictures!
Check out me trying to train Alyssa well
