Quiet… few thoughts on my mind

Life has been busy yet quiet at the same time.  Have not had a lot to write about.  A few thoughts in general that I might have missed over the last week.

  • Happy Birthday a week ago to my brother Randy.  September 18th was the day.
  • The NY Giants and NO Saints suck at football.
  • The Cardinals are killin me. I don’t know if I can handle the Cubs making the playoffs either. Just don’t talk to me about it  :)

I also had a pretty funny story from this weekend.  My brother in law and I stayed in Champaign at a semi-rundown hotel called the Econo Lodge.  econo_lodge.gifWe got there mid evening and it was hot and musty in the room.  Turned the air on high and left for the night to eat and hang out at BWW (of course).  Got back around 10:30ish and it was still flippin hot in the room.  Great, air conditioner doesn’t work.  So I call down to the front desk to ask for another room. The lady says they will send maintenance up first to check it out.  A few moments later the lady and another guy that can’t speak English come to our room.  The guy looks mad and disgusted to be there.  He mumbles something and comes into the room.  Beats the air unit a few times, turns the nobs, and shakes his head.  Next thing we know, this guy unplugs the unit and yanks the entire thing right out of the wall.  He then drags the unit across our room and out into the concrete hallway.  Dragging it by the cord, hitting walls and doors on the way.  Then he marches away.  So there we are, stuck with a hole in the wall now and have no idea if he’s coming back.  Five minutes pass and this guy and his buddy (with no shoes on) comes with another old, dirty, nasty air conditioner unit.  The guy fits it into place, plugs it in, turns it on, stuffs some padding around it, turns and nods at us, and leaves the room.  We were cracking up laughing at this sequence of events that just occurred.  Luckily this newer air conditioner worked and within 30 minutes our room was cool.  I think they grabbed this unit directly from another room because when they brought it, it was dripping water like it was running.  Wouldn’t it have been easier to just move us rooms?  Oh well, never know what you’ll get at the econo lodge!
