4 For 4 in 2004

Manito Folk won their 4th 3 on 3 tourney in 4 tries this past weekend. They won the Pekin Marigold Festival 3 on 3 by going a perfect 5-0 on the day. The tourney was held out at the First Church of God in Pekin. The tourney was ran very well by the church. They had a total of 12 teams all in one bracket. The double elimination tourney started about 8:00 AM and finished around 1:30 PM.

The champions pictured below consisted of Jason Conklin, Ryan Knuppel, Nathan Conklin and Scott Winders.

I’ve always said, 3 pointers win 3 on 3 tourneys. And Manito Folk used that theory at Pekin. They consistently hit 3 pointers to destroy the competition.

Their competition consisted of:
1) A team from Peoria: They gave us a run for our money. And talked trash the entire way. Was nice to finally put them away and shut them up a bit.
2) Ron Parkers team from Pekin: Another highly competitive team. Pretty athletic. We played better and won with ease.
3) Troy Holmes and his group from Pekin: This had to be our best game of the day. We won in about 15 minutes by hitting 3 after 3 after 3. Scott Winders and Jason Conklin led the 3 point attack the entire way.
4) Tommy Swingle, Cody Helfers, Matt Wright from Manito: A rival team from our hometown. The had the lead the entire game, but we fought back to get the win.
5) Tommy Swingle, Cody Helfers, Matt Wright from Manito: They fought their way back and played us again for the championship. We played a very good game and won easily, 20-10.

Manito Folk ended their 2004 3 on 3 season with a record of 21-1 and a perfect 4 for 4 in tourneys. Their only loss came at the Washington Macker.
