I’m way behind on this, but I have to talk about it. Rodney and I hit STL for the first Cardinal/Cub game of the season a few weeks back – and it didn’t disappoint. We left around noon and got there before anyone else I think. We always do that! Gates opened 2 hours early and we stood in the front row bleachers trying to get a ball. Rodney finally snatched one as Adam Kennedy tossed one up to him. Nice! Beautiful weather and a great night for baseball. Our seats were the 5th row of the left field bleachers – perfect seats!
The highlight was the 6th or 7th inning when Soriano (Cubs left fielder) showed that he’s nothing better than a little league outfielder. He misplayed two fly balls and looked pitiful out in LF. This gave the Cardinals a 3-1 lead. We decided to make our way toward the gate in the 9th inning and watch closer to our exit. Bad idea. Soriano got back at everyone by jacking a 2 run bomb to tie it in the ninth. Ouch! The Cardinals did end up rallying in the 11th to win 5-3 and send us all home happy. We didn’t leave til 11ish and got home close to 2:00 AM. Next time – we stay!
Fun times though.
